Strange FTP error

Hi, I have a save2FTP command set up, and it seemed to be taking forever at 0%, so I aborted and saw this error:

5.9.2009 5:01:01 PM:[1001][E] Unable to copy file to FTP: "XXXXXXX [this was the correct host]" [Çàäàíèå ïðåðâàíî ïîëüçîâàòåëåì]

The connection was established just fine, but there was an error after that. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Zev

Try to use passive mode.

Passive mode was enabled. What was strange is that those odd characters were displayed; in other words, it looked like a buffer overflow on the error string.

Any ideas?

Hello

It seems like firewall problem. After connect APBackup tries to open data port and I think it didn't recieved response from server as data channel is blocked by firewall (on client side or server).

When you press "Abort" the task is interruped and here is a localization bug "Çàäàíèå ïðåðâàíî ïîëüçîâàòåëåì" (from russian translation)= "Aborted by user". So here is no stack/buffer overflow.

Here is a good explanation of firewall problem for FTP protocol:

Ahhhh, it's Russian, I had no idea. That makes things much clearer. I think you must be right then, a firewall issue. Thanks very much.

Also please download and install the latest build of APBackup 3.5.5402. There was a bug and in some cases APBackup transfered files to FTP in ASCII mode.
