"Unable to write" error

Post by kevin95630 »

Whenever I add a new backup task or edit an existing one, I get the error message:

Unable to write to C:\ProgramData\APBackup\ArhTasks.bpd

I see that this directory is marked as "Read Only" in Windows. I tried changing this, but the changes would not "stick" and the directory always returns to Read Only mode.

I am using Windows 7

You should grant access to write to this folder to user who runs APbackup.
Also you can run APBackup with -localcfg parameter. In this case APBackup stores all data into the folder where APbackup.exe is.

Yes APBackup 3.X has a new Zip archiver version. Also it has ZIP checking feature after backup so after backup APBackup checks ZIP file and if it is corrupted the task stops with error message in a log. (Backup->Advanced->Check ZIP after backup). Also make sure your drive R: has NTFS file system.
